The fact that Easter is only a week away, literally blows my mind. This year is FLYING by! On one hand, I want time to slow down, but on the other (dominant) hand, I am so ready and excited to be pulling out those new spring prints and dresses! I can't get enough of the pretty floral/ pastels this season, and the options available right now seem to be endless. 

This is also Harrison's first Easter that he will actually kind of be able to understand what's going on, so I'm extra excited for it! I've gotten everything together for his first Easter basket (we saved our money last year and skipped the basket since he was not even 4 months old yet).. we got him a toddler soccer ball, a new book, bubbles, and little treats to stuff in some Easter eggs :)

Rounding Out 2014 & A Look at Christmas

This year Christmas was all about the little ones (and I dare say, all years to come will be the same!) and it was so much fun to see their genuine excitement when opening gifts and just being with family. My sister and I also had a lot of fun finding matching outfits for our babes! Check out the bottom of this post to get the details and similar looks!

2014 was an epic year for our family... we started off the year with the birth of Harrison, started the planning process and ultimately building an addition on to our house (still not done, but close!), all while learning how to be parents. You'll have to excuse me while I get a little nostalgic on you, with Harrison's first birthday coming up next week, I've been doing a lot of reflecting on this past year and all that we been through... many sleepless months, constant learning, growing, and sometimes feeling like a failure, and then overcoming that feeling, teething, so many firsts, and then finally feeling like you're a 'ole pro (this feeling comes and goes:)) And although it feels like we did so much in 2014, I still can't believe that it's over and we are onto the next year, with so many new firsts and adventures to experience as a family. 

So this year my main goal is to be in the moment as much as possible, and try not to stress over the little things because they too shall pass. So bring it on 2015, I'm ready for you!

Holiday Traditions [Afternoon Tea]

 

 This year my mom, sister, and I decided to start a new holiday tradition where we take an afternoon off work, get dolled up, and go to The Jefferson Hotel for afternoon tea. Ever since I can remember, my mom has always been an avid hot tea drinker, and I'm slowly enjoying it more and more myself. Besides the soothing and relaxing benefits of drinking hot tea, I love experiencing the rich tradition and formality of a High Tea.

Thanksgiving...

I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving holiday! We celebrated at my mom's house this year and it was extra special for our family being that it was Harrison's very first Thanksgiving! We started a new tradition of roasting oysters before we sat down for the main event. It gave everyone something to gather around and catch up over... not going to lie, we kind of stole the idea from my husband's family - they've done it for years and years, but everyone loved it. 

And now that we welcome December, we have so much to look forward to leading up to Christmas. I expect this Christmas to have a fresh feel with a little one running around :) Not to mention, who doesn't love Christmas music and holiday parties?!

Christmas Decor & A Few Updates Around The Home

Surprisingly, December has been a pretty productive month for me, especially considering I am now 36 weeks along (!). A lot has been happening and I've been so scattered brained, but here are a few snippets I've taken over the last week or so to share. 

Last week I helped my sister finish her holiday decor for her banister. I think it turned out pretty spectacular. 

I also made my first Christmas wreath using deco mesh. Probably one of the easiest projects I've ever done. I figured there are enough deco mesh tutorials out there so I didn't do one, but I definitely recommend giving it a try!

I found the perfect little blue and white vase at this year's annual Bazaar Bazaar for $6 to put my pheasant and turkey feathers in...

And we finally got some projects done around the nursery over the weekend, like hanging this framed Rifle Paper Co. print , and I sewed the crib skirt. I love how it turned out!

We also got this DIY mirror hung over the changing table.

Just a few of little details to finish in the nursery and I promise I will be ready for a full reveal :) Stay tuned...

Weekend Eye Candy from Williamsburg

I stuck to my guns this weekend and took some time to do exactly what I wanted to do, and took a little field trip to Williamsburg on Saturday.

Honestly, I needed a day like this to just breathe in the fresh air and awe at all of the beauty around Williamsburg. It especially got me motivated for decorating for Christmas, since I have kind of been a little ho hum about it this year. But I'm still waiting until after Thanksgiving to start! (That is one of my biggest peeves!)

But anyways, here is my iphone dump of a beautiful, inspiring day.

First stop was Seasons, where they make the most beautiful wreaths, garland, and table settings.

I just about died when I saw this chandelier.

After a delish lunch at The Cheese Shop, we headed over to The Craft House to see this...

I'm loving this rich, bold blue hue.

And I think I'm in a boxwood phase right now too... I want to put them everywhere.

Love the bell jar fixture over this table.

Next we wandered down the to old historic Williamsburg and came across this Colonial Nursery. 

I saw some pheasant feathers there and had to pick up a few. I'm not quite sure how I am going to use them yet, but I've got ideas brewing:) 

We wandered off the beaten path a little and came across this gorgeous home. How amazing is the fretwork in that fence?!

I just thought this was the sweetest little cottage ever. 

It was right on the corner before you pull up to the Williamsburg Inn. 

I would love to go back at Christmas time and enjoy their afternoon royal tea.

Our last stop before heading home was one of my mom's favorite little consignment shops. I found this blue and white chinoiserie ginger jar for $15 and couldn't pass it up! I took it home, cleaned it up, and had the perfect spot for it in our bedroom.
