Showering Baby HRD!

Last Saturday, my sister hosted the cutest baby shower for my little bun and I wanted to share some of the details with you. She put so much love and thought into every detail that made the day so special for me.

Take a look...

This is my mom with my sweet niece, Olivia! She was such a ham that day. What's a baby shower without a few babies around? :)

How fun are those sparkler letter candles?!

30 weeks!

The favors were jars of pickles from my favorite local deli. The perfect added detail!

My sister, Megan; mother-in-law, and mom

If you haven't noticed by now, we finally picked a name for our little man, Harrison Rollings :) We are smitten already.

I have to send out a special thank you to all of my best friends for showering me and HRD with such love, and a super special thank you to my sister and mom for all of the hard work they put into this perfect day!

October Happenings

Today is the first day of Fall that has actually felt like Fall to me. I am all snuggled in a sweater and I love it. Keep it coming, weather gods. Keep it coming.

#beautifultype cinnamon

We started moving a few of the major pieces into the nursery over the weekend, and I'm really happy about it. A few of my original ideas are changing, but I think the over all feel will stay the same. I'll keep you updated as things evolve.

We started watching NBC's new show The Blacklist. Boy is it a goodie. I highly recommend.

This song has been stuck in my head for the past week. It's my new jam.

Autumn Beach Babymoon

I put together a little video of our beach "babymoon" from last week:) It's hard to believe these moments have come and gone already.

I hope you enjoy.
Happy Monday!

Happenings

Saturday, W and I enjoyed the perfect 70 degree weather on the patio of Legend Brewing Co. overlooking the best view of our city.

We also tried the salmon cakes from Fresh Market for dinner this week. They are to die for. Mmmm.

When you're pregnant, clothes can only bring you so much satisfaction. Instead, I've turned to lip gloss and nail polish to do the trick. I'm loving Bare Minerals Stunner Moxie and Essie Big Spender for Fall.

W also finished painting the nursery last night! The place is a mess, but I can't wait to share with you!

What's happening with you lately?

Happenings

WOW. I have been so scatter brained and this summer is flying by like a whirlwind! Things started getting a bit hectic for me when we found out...

Yep! That's right... our little family is expanding! We feel so thrilled/blessed/nervous/excited/overwhelmed I don't know what to do with myself!

Since then I've experienced first trimester tribulations, re-scheduled our Germany trip (only 3 days away now!!), celebrated holidays and birthdays, and started brainstorming nursery ideas (eeek!).

Now that I'm finally starting to feel better, I plan on making regular (hopefully) appearances on the blog again and I can't wait to share with you updates from my euro trip and all of the changes happening at our house.

Like I've mentioned about a million times before, our teeny house is teeny. So I hope y'all follow along as our guest bedroom/my closet becomes a nursery, and our bedroom gets some re-configuring to make it all work. I plan on sharing the good, the bad, the ugly, and
(praying for good!) final results.

And finally, with this trip coming up in a few days, I have put together a little list of my essentials to pack! I like to stick with layers (Bavarian summer temperatures can be all over the map) and easy to throw on, comfortable dresses.

Jet Set: What To Pack

jean jacket (similar here) // cross body bag // sunglasses // maxi dress (similar here) // camera // sandals

Jet Set: What To Pack pt. 2

panama hat // scarf // shoes // blouse // jean shorts

In my make-believe life, I own all of these items, and everything will be fab, but in my real life, I'm just using this as inspiration and am mostly taking items that have been in my closet for years, but a girl can dream right?

Happenings

False

The first day of summer is officially here! W and I are celebrating with another weekend in DVL.... I just can't get enough. It won't quite be the same as whatever paradise Grace Kelly's sitting in, in the picture above, but it feels like paradise to me:)

Kimye announced their baby name...if you live under a rock and haven't heard it yet, get ready...it's a doozey... North...West

Yep. That's right. I didn't think it could get any worse after Blue Ivy, but in true Kimye fashion, they may have even topped that! I'm still embarrassingly fascinated with the K - Klan though (and not the one from the history books). I. Just. Can't. Help. Myself.

Instagram just came out with a new update where you can take videos now. It's all the rage. I'm eager to play around with it this weekend.

Tentatively speaking, my mother-daughter Europe trip is back on! Hallelujah! Plans are being made for the end of July, and I need a vacay so so bad.

I hope you all enjoy solstice and this gorgeous weekend!

Girl's Trip : Marco Island

As I mentioned before, last weekend I flew down to Marco Island, Florida for a girls weekend with my best gals from college. We had the absolute most amazing time. Literally, we didn't do anything but sun bathe, drink fancy tropical cocktails, and eat. And maybe a little dancing and bad singing was had too.

It is exactly what I needed to rejuvenate myself here at home. I feel like I've gotten a new wind and can conquer anything. Let's see how long this lasts, shall we?

Follow HH on BlogLovin' & photo dump

Follow my blog with Bloglovin!

Harrison House is official on Bloglovin' so please do follow along if you feel so obliged:)

In other news, March Madness has been in full effect in the Duke house hold so bare with me as I lay my iphone photo dump upon you.

Last Sunday, W and I were in Greensboro for the ACC tournament game..

Miami beat Chapel Hill in a close game. In the middle of the game, I turned to W and told him that I look at the kids playing in the game and feel like they should be older than me. Then I realize they are all 18-20 somethings and I have been out of college for 5 years. EW.

I'm a little late on showing updated pictures after getting our new stainless steel appliances, so my iphone pics will have to do for now...

My dishwasher is my new best friend.

We still need to upgrade the microwave, but for now it doesn't bother me all that much. I think it kind of blends into the white kitchen cabinets. Maybe sometime this Fall we'll get to that...

Did you see VCU wreak HAVOC last night in the first round of the NCAA?! Proud of my Rams!

My niece is proud too...

Happy Friday loves!

Monday, January 14, 2013

Hi.

Thank you for bearing with me while I took last week off from blogging. We were experiencing a broad range of emotions, from the birth of my first niece, Olivia ( who is healthy, beautiful, and perfect in every way), to the tragic loss of a very dear friend.
My emotions are still drastically wavering from one minute to the next, so bear with me if I may seem a little too sentimental here for a while.

And so on that note, on to happier things... like babies!
Here is my first picture with my beautiful O. I am obsessed with her, and so proud of my sister - she did such an amazing job bringing her into this world!
Tomorrow she will be 1 week old! Holy cow, time does fly.

Some other good things to come out of this weekend, other than the fact that I ferociously cleaned my house  bathtub, was we also got around to hanging some of W's artwork.

O.K. So I have to boast about my man for just a few minutes here..
W paints in his free time, just things that he has drawn up in his head, or things I request every now and again, and he really is talented.

This zebra is one of my favorites, and I've been meaning to frame it for a while now, and can finally check this off my list!

And this next one, W completely took me by surprise with and is now a new fav of mine that he just finished this weekend.

Guess who it is....

O.K. I'll give you a hint...

Yup, the strongest man alive... Samson. I'm in love... now we're just playing with ideas for where it's home will be!

2013 Resolutions

2013 Resolutions

At first I didn't intend on making any new year resolutions, but the more I got to thinking about it, there are quite a few goals I'd like to make for myself this year. Hopefully putting them out there for the blog world will hold me a little more accountable to myself.
Some of my goals are very specific ( my bedroom looks like a laundry mat exploded in it) and others are more broad (like taking risks, when my type A personality can keep me so ridged in line).

I don't know why we, as humans, need to have a special reason, like a new year, to want to start fresh, but I guess it just gives us the feeling that this year we have yet another chance to get it all right

What about you? Do you have any special resolutions this year?

I'm not ready to let the Christmas Spirit go...

Hi All! I figured New Year's Eve was as good a time as any to share some Christmas photos before the season was officially over.

We got a new fancy schmancy camera for Christmas, but unfortunately I haven't quite mastered it yet so these are all from my iphone (surprise surprise). But hopefully 2013 will bring prettier pictures to the blog :)

I hope you all enjoyed the holidays as much as I did.
I feel rejuvenated and ready to take on 2013 with full force!

Life as of Late...

Hiiii. I know. I've been bad and M.I.A. this month but to be honest, work has been crazy busy, and I just needed a little break from the blog for a few days (ok, maybe weeks). But I'm back now, and have lots to say.

First, I'll fill you in on what you missed.
One of my best gf's threw a great Christmas party, complete with festive drinks, a secret gift exchange, oh and the perculator (cue the most awesome dance moves you've ever seen).

Here I am with the beautiful hostess.

These festive drinks were a hit. A Cranberry champagne concoction, topped with cranberries and a slice of lime.

I didn't quite make my way to these (I'm a sucker for champagne) but I believe these beauts were a combination of peppermint vodka and sprite. Can you say yummm?!

And then this is sort of random, butttt one day last week I got home from work to a homemade meal cooked up by W and it just made me all happy inside.
My in-laws gave us the Spode Christmas plates last year, and we have been using them as our everyday dinnerware for the whole month of December. I'm in love and feel so festive.

On to other news... I hear the Pantone Color Institute named 2013 Color of the year as Emerald Green! And I totally agree. I am drawn to it like a bee to honey.
Pantone's executive director, Leatrice Eiseman says, "It’s also the color of growth, renewal and prosperity — no other color conveys regeneration more than green..."
Let's hope she's right, in all aspects!

So thinking of emerald green, I found a few images that really speak to me.

I love this combination of emerald and aqua. It's so young and fresh, but still classic.

And I am truely obsessed with these pillows. If anyone knows where I can find them, please share! I've found that being married and decorating a home, can really limit your color choices. I don't want to use anything overly feminine, or masculine for that matter. I think emerald green is a nice marriage of the two (no pun intended).

And this dress! Dear God this dress. I'd love this dress no matter the color. Now I just need somewhere to wear it!

Ok ok that's enough for today. I'll be back next week.
Enjoy your weekend! xx
