Harrison's 1st Birthday!

Today is the day! My little baby is one year old! Oh my. This year just literally went by in the blink of an eye... probably because he has kept us so busy day in and day out ;)

Unfortunately, because of our ongoing construction/ chaos, we had to forego a big party this year. I originally thought that if construction would be finished reasonably soon after his birthday, that we could put off the party until then. But then there were just so many unknowns, and I'm glad now that we decided to go ahead and celebrate because we are still at least a month away from being finished with our house.

So about a week ago I decided to just have a very small get together with our immediate families. I took the easy route with catered BBQ, coleslaw, chips, and cupcakes. It honestly turned out to be so perfect for us. We had the nicest, stress-free day, and I think HRD thoroughly enjoyed his cake and presents!

Tea for Two [Olivia's 2nd Birthday Party]

This weekend was extra special because we had two special birthday's to celebrate! First on Saturday we went to my niece's birthday party and then on Sunday we celebrated Harrison's 1st birthday! Oh me Oh my. Still can't get over that! But for today, I am sharing the AMAZING job my sister did putting together a "Tea Party" for a very special little 2 year old! I know first hand how much thought, planning, and crafting went into this day, and it all came to life in such a dream land sort of way.

Because No Matter Your Political Allegiance...

We Can All Support the Cocktail Party

Gold Martini Shaker // Old-Fashioned Glasses // Patriotic Pinwheel Cocktail Napkins // Hostess Gown // Bar Cart // Martini Glasses // Blue & White Petite Bowl

In honor of Election Day, I thought I'd put together a little patriotic themed cocktail party, because well let's face it, sometimes debating politics just makes you want to have a drink!

And Yes I voted. Did you? ;)

Showering Baby HRD pt. Deux

Last weekend was my last baby shower. It was bittersweet to know that time has come and gone, but exciting too because it just means HRD's arrival is coming that much sooner!
My mother in law's best friends hosted the shower and did a fabulous job.
We have truly been spoiled!

Check out some of the details...

the cake was the most delicious sponge cake with chunks of refreshing strawberries inside

One of the hostesses sells Caspari wholesale and came up with these adorable personalized napkins for us! She gave me tons of leftovers, so you may see the resurface again over the next year or so ;)

Ahmazing (and pretty) chocolate covered strawberries!

And chocolate "it's a boy" suckers... perfect for this chocolate craving mom to be.

And last but not least the wonderful hostesses and myself

I hope everyone enjoys this Thanksgiving holiday. Don't forget to take a moment to relax (between eating and BF shopping of course)!

Showering Baby HRD!

Last Saturday, my sister hosted the cutest baby shower for my little bun and I wanted to share some of the details with you. She put so much love and thought into every detail that made the day so special for me.

Take a look...

This is my mom with my sweet niece, Olivia! She was such a ham that day. What's a baby shower without a few babies around? :)

How fun are those sparkler letter candles?!

30 weeks!

The favors were jars of pickles from my favorite local deli. The perfect added detail!

My sister, Megan; mother-in-law, and mom

If you haven't noticed by now, we finally picked a name for our little man, Harrison Rollings :) We are smitten already.

I have to send out a special thank you to all of my best friends for showering me and HRD with such love, and a super special thank you to my sister and mom for all of the hard work they put into this perfect day!

Baby D's Gender Reveal

Words can't describe what an exciting/surreal/scary/happy time this is in my life, but I love the fact that I have this little blog that I can share special snip bits of it with.
We hit a milestone in the pregnancy last week... we found out baby D's gender!
It suddenly feels so real, and now I feel like we can really start moving forward and planning for our future family.

Check out the "scoop" from our gender reveal ice cream social last week!

IT'S A...

BOY!!!!!

Life as of Late...

Hiiii. I know. I've been bad and M.I.A. this month but to be honest, work has been crazy busy, and I just needed a little break from the blog for a few days (ok, maybe weeks). But I'm back now, and have lots to say.

First, I'll fill you in on what you missed.
One of my best gf's threw a great Christmas party, complete with festive drinks, a secret gift exchange, oh and the perculator (cue the most awesome dance moves you've ever seen).

Here I am with the beautiful hostess.

These festive drinks were a hit. A Cranberry champagne concoction, topped with cranberries and a slice of lime.

I didn't quite make my way to these (I'm a sucker for champagne) but I believe these beauts were a combination of peppermint vodka and sprite. Can you say yummm?!

And then this is sort of random, butttt one day last week I got home from work to a homemade meal cooked up by W and it just made me all happy inside.
My in-laws gave us the Spode Christmas plates last year, and we have been using them as our everyday dinnerware for the whole month of December. I'm in love and feel so festive.

On to other news... I hear the Pantone Color Institute named 2013 Color of the year as Emerald Green! And I totally agree. I am drawn to it like a bee to honey.
Pantone's executive director, Leatrice Eiseman says, "It’s also the color of growth, renewal and prosperity — no other color conveys regeneration more than green..."
Let's hope she's right, in all aspects!

So thinking of emerald green, I found a few images that really speak to me.

I love this combination of emerald and aqua. It's so young and fresh, but still classic.

And I am truely obsessed with these pillows. If anyone knows where I can find them, please share! I've found that being married and decorating a home, can really limit your color choices. I don't want to use anything overly feminine, or masculine for that matter. I think emerald green is a nice marriage of the two (no pun intended).

And this dress! Dear God this dress. I'd love this dress no matter the color. Now I just need somewhere to wear it!

Ok ok that's enough for today. I'll be back next week.
Enjoy your weekend! xx
