We still have 2 more weeks until we find out baby D's gender, but I've started throwing around ideas for the nursery with W, and so far I'm leaning towards doing a fairly neutral nursery for a boy or a girl, but I really love the idea of doing something bold on the windows.
Window treatments can get expensive, and we have 2 windows in the nursery that already have nice white, wooden blinds. Originally, I thought about switching out the blinds for some bamboo roman shades (like these) and adding floor length panels on either side. But in an effort to use what we have, I think a cornice valence might work nicely. Not to mention, you need a whole lot less fabric.
I found this picture for inspiration, except we don't have crown molding in the room, so I'd really like the cornice to reach the ceiling, and to keep it a little less formal, I don't plan on using any panel curtains with it.
I am planning on putting W and my father in law's wood working skills to good use to make the cornice box ourselves. Fingers crossed this turns out okay!
A few days ago I hit up our local fabric stores, Williams & Sherrill and U-fab, to check out some fabric choices. Here are a few of my favs...
unforturnately, I didn't find as many choices for a girls that I loved. I really like this one on top, but I may need to do some internet searching if we have a girl before I commit to anything:)
What do you normally do for window treatments? Do you go custom or prefab?
