28 Days of things I love : Day 28

pillows.

I have a weird addiction to wanting to buy new pillows. I'm usually pretty good at talking myself out of it, but what's with the constant urge to buy new pillows?

I think mainly it's all the pretty textiles and fabrics out there right now. I'm just drawn to so many. Our living room sofa is really the only area in our house that could use some new pillows, but I have an oriental rug and anthropologie curtains to work with which consist of mainly navy and what I would best describe as a salmon color.

Here's what I'm working with...

(this is an old picture, and a few things have changed but you can at least see the curtains and rug pretty well)

here's our sofa...

I'd like to down play the salmon color as much as possible, because the rug was a hand-me-down from my parents, and I like it when it takes on an orangey-er color more so than pink.

Here's something along the lines of how I would finish off the room with pillows.

accessorizing with pillows

the problem is, every time I think my mind is set, I discover a different pattern that I love! At least pillows are one of the easiest accents to change out in a room.

***Shewww that concludes 28 Days of things I love! That was actually a lot harder than I thought it would be! Thanks to everyone that followed along, I had fun with it and I hope you did too!

28 Days of things I love : Day 27

traveling.

W and I have been extremely lucky to be able to take a few little trips, and a couple big ones since we've been married. This is something that we both really wanted to do as much of before we start a family because we know how limited travel can become with little bambinos running around.

I still have a few places that I would L O V E to visit, but until then I can dream..

No 1 on my list would have to be Jachson Hole, Wyoming.

My biggest dilemma there, is deciding whether to visit in summer

Wind River Range - Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

or winter

Jackson Lake - Jackson Hole, Wyoming

No. 2 is Banff, Canada

are you seeing a trend here? gorgeous mountains, and glacier water. I think so.

No. 3 Seattle, Washington

Seattle

confused? here's why:

- grey's anatomy.
- twilight.
-public market. (I've heard great things.)

Where are you dying to visit? What's your favorite place you've ever been?

28 Days of things I love : Day 26

camping.

I admit I've only been real camping once. But ever since W and I got camping gear as a wedding gift (which by the way, was one of the most original gifts we received, and we LOVED it) we have been trying to add more camping trips to the calender.

This spring is no exception, and as soon as the weather gets nice, I plan on heading out into the wilderness with my dead head (that would be W)

A Duke camping experience is pretty low key and simple, with a tent, stove, ipod, and beer.

But these camping experiences are next level
Not gonna lie, I'm down for it.

Old time air stream campers, like the show I was telling you about...

airstream, always wanted one. lived in a Spartan trailer (like a full length airstream) when I was a kid for a year. Trailer court on the beach California ! Sweet.

28 Days of things I love : Day 25

The Bay. (Deltaville to be exact).

My parents have a Bay house that is probably one of my absolute favorite places on earth. I can not wait until the first sign of spring this year, and to be laying out on that dock, enjoying the sun, water, and that view.

I think it's one of Samson's favorite places on earth too.

There's something about being on the water that just calms me. It's so peaceful, and it just melts all my cares and worries away. I'm counting down the days until I'm back there again!

upholstered head boards.

I'm loving upholstered head boards, and the tailored look they add to a bedroom. I love our Owen Suters Acorn bed, but would definitely like to add an upholstered bed to a guest room, or child's room in the future. My only apprehension is dust. I know how dusty our wooden bed frame can get, especially with pet dander.

Do any of you have an upholstered bed? How do they hold up with dust?

upholstered bed. This is perfect! I just wouldn't be able to stash anything underneath it. Hmmmm.

28 Days of things I love : day 23

reality tv.

It's my guilty pleasure. I. can't. turn. away.

As much as I love to hate these reality weirdos, I can't stop watching these train wrecks. However not all can be classified as train wrecks.

my personal favs are classified as S U R V I V O R S.

I have a weird obsession with this show, and am always trying to convince W - "no I really could  win this"

Malcolm Freberg

p.s. am I about 25 seasons late on this band wagon?

some are classified as HOUSEWIVES

papapapapaalease. You don't cook, you don't clean, you have full time nannies.... what exactly defines a housewife again?... Like I said. Love to Hate.

28 Days of things I love : Day 22

feel good music.

I have to admit, I'm not really good at finding new bands/ musicians on my own. Normally W stumbles upon new music and I'm always impressed with what he finds.

Recently, he's gotten me into The Devil Makes Three. Have you ever heard of them? Their bluegrass vibe is addicting and has me tapping my toes.

28 Days of thing I love : day 21

**sheww. what a week. after visiting my grandma in the hospital wed. night, I had to take the hubs to the ER thursday morning from some serious food poisoning. Thankfully he's doing much better now, but sorry if this may seem a little out of whack. I don't know where my mind is right now. Anywho...

A good book.

Really in the last two years I've gotten in to reading more than I ever have before. My favorite novels are light romance reads, and popular series, but I really enjoy most books from classic Jane Austen novels to the geeky Twilight and Hunger Games series. My kindle app for my iPad has changed my life.

But in terms of purchasing hard copies of books, I'm a sucker for fun coffee table books and anything that will look good on a book shelf.

28 Days of things I love : Day 20

HGTV.

Actually I think I have a love/hate relationship with HGTV. I love all of the inspiring shows, and projects they do. I hate that they make it look so darn easy. But nevertheless, it still brings me so much inspiration and encouragement to tackle my own little DIY's and to-do lists.

Have y'all seen the 2013 HGTV Dream Home in Kiawah Island, just outside of Charleston, SC? It's gorggg.

See the rest of this amazing house here.

I kind of convinced myself I was going to win the 2011 Dream Home that's in Stowe, VT. Unfortunately, things didn't pan out as I had hoped. But there's always this year...

Either way, I think I'll continue my HGTV lovefest from my sofa every Saturday morning. watching people hard at work can be so exhausting sometimes. Am I right?

28 Days of things I love : Day 19

Spring.

It's the perfect bit of fresh air, that is ever-so-needed after those freezing, gloomy, winter months. I am so looking forward to spring this year. Bring on the flowy skirts, open toed wedges, and sunshine!

In a perfect world, my ideal spring day would go something like this...

enjoy breakfast in bed

afterwards, take my fur baby for a long walk

walk the dog

have a picnic lunch in the park with my hubby and friends

spring picnic

stroll through the shops in Carytown

More pictures of Carytown...Thanks to Google Images

and end the day with dinner at home for deux on our back porch

sounds delightful right? Well, I'll just have to keep dreaming for now... it's currently in the 50's and raining...

28 Days of things I love : Day 18

I love a good gallery wall.

This wall makes a huge impact using black and white photographs with the same size frames and matting. It's almost like you're looking at one gigantic piece of art, instead of 12 little pictures.

On the other hand, I'm also drawn to the eclectic vibe, mixing and matching with different frames, illustrations, and artwork. I especially love how the tv blends with the gallery wall, instead of being it's own focal point.

Here they brought in a few random objects, along with plates to add dimension and visual interest. I especially love the plate that is facing bottom up. Sometimes it's the quirky details that are the most interesting.
